In a nutshell
At first you seem like a hard nut to crack
When you take a closer look… you might see
A few bruises from falling out of the tree
Hit by some branches on your way down
It might be you’re still falling
Haven’t yet touched the soft with leafs covered ground
But during it all your shell has gotten cracked
Making tiny little holes
For those who come along and take the time to pick you up
And have a look at what they’ve found
There’s a possibility that they might see
A glimpse of the you, you try to hide
You can’t find the right words to tell about what grows inside
The things that one can find when they wait a while
Until you’re ripe to peel your shell of and show you for who you are
You hide underneath the foliage, subconsciously maybe?
So no one gets to close, so they don’t eat you alive
It must scare you to know that ones your shell’s gone
There’s no way you can put it back on
And if finders don’t like what they see,
You might get thrown back on the ground…
*****
I picked you up in a forest
And whatIt seeme dan ordinary nut at first
Still makes me wonder about the fruit within
I’ll try to never let you fall out of my hand
