Quietly enjoying, my morning and cup of coffee.
Thinking about the things I really must do.
Wondering about the people I should meet,
thinking about anything but you.
Trying to get you out of my head,
solving the problems of the world.
Forgetting things and words that were said,
crossing the bridges that burned.
Entombed in a cocoon of memories,
closing my eyes for the past.
Looking to an open future,
knowing that it wouldn't last.
And so I smile, and put my cup down,
push the problems to the back of my head.
Ready to face another day,
with new mistakes I'll regret.
