Six on the morning
Sleep eludes
Coffee and a last forbidden cigarette
The heat turned up
Looking at Christmas pictures
Reminder of busy Christmases in the past
Time to reflect, to think of blessings
Unrecognized, but seen at last.
My housecoat new and comfortable
The flannel nightgown of my mom
Two pairs of socks, one black, one red
Give me warm feet and a sense of me
Of who I am, should I need reminding
Within me is the little girl
Who tumbled in the snow and
Skated on big skates
Moved like lightening
I am alive, I loved, was wanted.
Gambled, and lost and won
Little snapshot of the now.
