Eighteen years old and I will age no more
Last Sunday was my last for I was killed
So young, so small, what were we fighting for?
Division six now dead, though all were skilled
Eternal glory for our country as
Hundreds of soldiers, brothers, now are dead
An el’ment of the chain of life I was
Enduring (more to come) to death I bled
Now time has come but I will not complain
Eighteen years old and so I must be strong
Longing for love to smooth this horrid pain
Still deeply praying that it won’t be long
Despite my pain I’d take much more for thee
England, my country, fighting to be free
