You carried me when I didn’t know
Who I was, where I was
If I was going to live, going to be born
Going to experience life and love
Yet you carried me
Everywhere you went, I went
Everywhere I went, you went
You fed me, you nourished me
And you kept me warm, safe, alive and loved
And then you gave birth to me
In pain, in joy, in love, in hope
As only you could
I was the fourth
And you pressed me into the world
So that I may live
And then you carried me
In your arms you held me
You protected me loved me and gave me life
Where ever you went I went
And where ever I went, you went
You carried me until I could crawl
Until I could walk
Until I could run
And even then and even now
You still carried me
When the world crashed down on me
You picked me up on your knees
And you carried me
When I could not see the night from the day
And when all hope had left me
You were right there to carry me
And today, on this day
I want to thank you for carrying me
As only you could
And one day
When mother earth pulls you to her bosom
And you can no longer walk
Then I will carry you
And where ever I will go, you will go
And where ever you will go, I will go
And in your old age you will be loved
And blessed and remembered
And you will be carried by me
You will not be alone when that day comes
For you to carry on…
