Late that night in Smalltown's bar,
Smell of beer mixed with cigars,
Regular men playing cards,
A little loud and full of laughs,
But then it struck him all at once,
He had to take his chance,
And change his fate when he's still young at heart.
Long ago he met a girl and they grew old,
Together, alone, that's what I'm told,
His house was warm, his life turned cold,
He missed out on that pot of gold,
And did what's done before,
Sold his soul and got bored,
And now he feels that he's falling apart.
Possesions, good looks and strong believes,
He had it all, found no relieve,
Whatever you give you will recieve,
Every smile and fallen leave,
Every moment of your time,
And once thoughts are left behind,
A new world opens up inside your self.
He was an old man now, and looked back,
In that bar, where time has passed,
He wondered: "How did I got in such a mess?",
"Can I not be blessed?"
But deep inside he always knew,
Even if things seem broken or ruined,
Everything will turn out for the best.
We only met just before he died,
He told me not to live by lies,
Just live your life or at least try,
To value every part of life,
Even hard times turn into gold,
Embrace the good things that you hold,
Then he passed away, smiling, knowing it's alright.
