Liquid Salvation
I’m standing on a shore
The waves crashing around me.
Shallow lighting flickers on the water,
And trash litters the once white beach.
I’m staring at the waves,
Watching them swallow reflections of stars
Waiting for them to reach me.
A voice calls me from a distance,
But the waves smother each cry,
The water reaches my knees,
The cold creeps up my legs.
I close my eyes and wait,
Liquid salvation is all I can think of.
Slowly I feel the water surround me
The waves grow hungry
As they crash into my knees
And the voice grows ever so faint.
Dim lights in the corner of my eyes
As the sea makes me her own
Standing on the less than perfect shore
I can almost taste the salt.
