The night crept over the world
darker then any night before
Like a blanket, covered it all
Around the world it swirreled
All the lights were put on
Terror rose on planet earth
Adults hiding, children crying
Waiting for the night to move on
But the dark seemed to stay
Depression made people mad
Darkness drove them insane
To survive you do what you may
More people became depressed
They started killing themselves
Darkness was the only thing on their minds
With the darkness they became obsessed
The darkness folds around us
It reveals our deepest fears
Hunts us in our sleep
Then runs us over like a bus
Mankind isn't made for darkness
We are creatures of the light
Made beautiful by emotions
Made ugly by boldness
We are all like our little ones
We become scared in the dark
We dare not be alone
When this terror comes
This night was not yet at it's end
It was young and inky black
Filled with strange and lonely sounds
Like a shop with nothing to vend
The shadows were dark and eerie
Sounds seemed to come from outer space
Speech was soft and broken
As the lights went out in the city
All light is swallowed
The darkness drowns all laughter
It fills all hearts with fear
It's not asked back what was borrowed
The night ties people to their beds
It doesn't feel right to be awake
But humans can only sleep for so long
It's the same for their pets
The night binds people to their houses
But they can't stay in forever
They've got to go for food
Just like the little mouses
The darkness descents on big and small
Age or species doesn't matter
No-one can escape this heavy burden
One by one, all will fall
They will fall into hell
But it's not a burning canyon
There's no devil there who'll smirk at you
It's absolute nothing..., no fire, no screams, no bad smell
That's the thing humans can't understand
How there could be absolutely nothing
So they make up frightening scenarios
Because it's their ignorance, they can't stand
They tell their stories to the next generation
They teach them to fear death
"If you don't live well, you'll go to hell"
But these old stories need renovation
The stories aren't scary any more
Except to the older public
The young ones are frightened by other things
They're intimidated by their own lore
But no matter how you approach it
It's a weird situation for everyone
Nobody really knows how to react
Of all the solutions, none seems to fit
We don't have any solutions for this situation
Because we never experienced this before
The novelty is the scariest aspect of all
It fills our hearts with contamination
It destroys our illusions that much is allready known
It destroys our feeling of safety
It throws us into a bottomless pit of weariness
It opens our eyes to the great unknown
Scientists come to us with light
They fill our hearts with hope
And with that hope we await the morning
And whatever will become of the night
There's still chaos on earth
But a change has now begun
The night is darker then ever
Like the moment before birth
The darkness has done it's worst
It's power is now decreasing
The clouds seem to withdraw
As the wave of fear is about to burst
Many people have given their life
They were to afraid to face their fears
The darkness threw them over the cliff
Leaving behind a husband, children or a wife
But most have survived this longest night
Their will to live was stronger then their fear
They knew that things would get better
With the coming of new light
And so the night drifted away
And people got back to their lifes
New stories came into the world
That were told by the light of day
With every sunbeam, hearts lifted up
Wounds caused by fear started to heal
But forever scars would remain
In the hearts, the darkness will never completely stop
Years from now, most will have forgotten
What it's like to live in a shadow
And those that still wake up from nightmares
Will consider their lifes rotten
They should be protected from insanity
They're vulnerable beyond imagination
An eclips is enough to make them break down
A cry, a plea for sanity
We don't realize how they must feel
Trapped inside their own heads
We just lock them up and put them away
Out of the world that we consider real
But someday the darkness will be gone
Light will fill all the world
Hearts, again, will be bright
By that time, all will be said and done
