A tale of imagination
Not so long ago
In a land not far away
Lived a girl I used to know
Listen to what I have to say
That girl, she looked so soft and sweet
With eyes as the sky so blue
When she walked around on her bare feet
There was only one thing you could do
To grab her tight and hold her close
And whisper softly in her ear
To gently scratch her beautiful nose
And tell her what she liked to hear
I lived like a king with his queen
In a golden palace with ivory towers
And a garden like you have never seen
With sweet honey trees and colored flowers
All that splendor was beginning to blind
My eyes and my other senses
My happiness soon was hard to find
I felt I had to climb the fences
Away I ran, into the fields of corn
Never looking back or turning round
And as I ran I could have sworn
I heard an increasingly disturbing sound
My heart was beating like drums so loud
Increasing as I ran from my queen
Pounding so hard that I had to shout
How I wished I had never seen
This lady who has me under her spell
And haunts my mind to this day
My raging heart you feel will tell
Why my thoughts still drift away
