far familiar voices
from upon the burning shores of paradise
chant their anthems till within
their words call forth a phoenix' rise
for from the ash a life will be awoken
and out of the black will come the blue
to the wordless worldless gazes doomed
I recall the sudden silence of the apathy of birth
while forever feeding my favourite wound
with the salt of the earth
I waste my breath on diamonds
and chase my nights till dawn
I have had the privilege to look behind
that skin-deep denial of a tiger's pride
So I spit, burn and bleed these tones
and join them with the fire that we ride
