Every day we watch and see,
All the wars and terror on TV.
Far away from home,
In countries we don’t know,
places we’ve never even seen
Every day a great disaster,
Landslides, tsunamis, forest fires.
And in the comfort of our homes,
Far away from all the hurt,
We watch TV and weep.
Every week a new TV-show,
“You can help them! Give US money!”
We feel good when we donate,
Don’t give too much, may I remind you,
we already paid for our holiday!
People please,
open your eyes!
And see the pain in the streets!
How’s your neighbour coping?
Does he have enough money to feed his kids?
Can you be a good person if you give money to people far away, while you’re ignoring those who are living in your street?
There’s poverty right under your noses, but we don’t see…
We’re blinded by our own wealth!
