Evening falls
One window, three walls
Dog barks. Wind whispers in the trees.
Train goes by. Silence please...
Nothing. One minute, two, three.
Peace and quiet. Nothing interesting to see.
Dog barks again. Noises.
Listen! Two voices!
Somebody riding a bike says goodbye.
Now nobody is left except the moon and I.
No, wait! Footsteps!
The pale light of the moon falls on 2 heads.
Dog barks. Four legs pass by.
Again nobody; just the moon and I.
Another train goes by. Kadoong. kadoong.
But silence takes over very soon.
Just me and my friend, the moon.
Somebody comes out, closes the garage door and goes back inside;
it seems they all want to hide:
they sleep at night
and only dare to come out in broad daylight.
But I, I come out at night
and hide from the sunlight.
I'm scared of them and they're scared of me.
Again a minute passes, two, three.
Dog barks again and suddenly I hear an owl.
Another dog starts to howl.
But silence takes over pretty soon.
Is it because of him? The moon?
He makes silence fall all around.
Hush! Not another sound!
He likes silence, just like me.
I look outside, nothing to see.
Just my friend, the moon, and I.
A third train passes by.
The night has now become so cold and dark,
I can no longer hear the dog bark:
he resides within his lair,
and - till morning - won't come out of there.
The wind whispers in a tree
and nobody who listens to it, but the moon and me.
And since it doesn't matter quite a lot,
I figure "why not?".
So I jump and hit the pavement very soon.
Now nobody's left, except the moon.
