She takes a deep breath
and takes the plunge.
Stepping forwards,
her guitar beside her,
like a good friend.
She looks at the crowd,
each pair of eyes
seeming to stare back.
Her hands trembled,
she grabbed her guitar
tightened her grip.
Her nerves rose high,
along with her hand
getting ready for the stroke.
Her hand softly touched
the snares for the first time.
The voices and faces faded,
all that was left on the earth
were herself and her guitar,
together silencing the world,
for a few minutes.
