How can I feel so lost
when I have nothing to lose

Why don't I walk up to you
and tell you what I've wanted to say all night

Why don't I slip you that mysterious subtle note
and write some poetry just for you

Why did I watch you get up
and leave without so much as goodbye

Why did I pretend I hadn't seen your sneaky glance
and instead stared into nothingness

Would it be because I'm such a coward
or could it be because I'm stunned by your magnificence

Perhaps it's because I've so often been made a fool of
or maybe it's because I fooled myself into temptation far too many times

Whichever it might have been
I'll never know
For you have sadly left the scene

But for me
You will always be
The star of this fantastic show
