A mental bond
Indiscernible, yet once iron-strong
Like a gossamer thread
Stretched out too long
When times were hard
I could feel you near
Always in my heart,
My mind;
That special place above my ear
It was your presence
That comforted and sustained me
What is left
Is just the heaviness of that empty space
I feel
