Pure
As life is so unforgiving
disbelief the tone of each day
loneliness in the dusk
sees the night in another light
searched the sea for a word
found nothing but salty spray
searched the sand for something
to remember what it was
thinking of the plans and goals
that all went astray
another three days of loneliness
to get through in weariness
so tired of this situation
building up elation, excitement
to see your smile, kiss your lips
feel the thrill to my fingers
yet I wonder if it can last
we know each other so well
and all that was and is
so easily swept away
by the ocean’s devious swell
how dim the light now
focus is obscure and cool
will we be once again the ones
we were, shall we endure
life is so unforgiving
and nothing at all is pure
