I lay there and I saw
the night fall and
the day break, I watched
the shape-shifting sky,
clouds playing tag or
hide and seek.
I waited and waited,
saw the moonlight kiss
the topmost branches
of the stately birches.
Saw the sun set fire to
the bushes, dressed
in raindrop diamonds.
And you came, you came
and kissed me on the forehead
and we stood together,
each a part of the other
until you broke our bond,
and walked away.
I lay there and I saw
the moon shrouded
by a cloud and I heard
the quiet of nature
silenced by my leaking
emotion. I lay there
and faded away
together with the night.
