Under the shadow of the mountains
I am a dwarf, an ant, a speck of dust
in divine eyes to be swept away
by a quick swipe, an irritated gesture.
Under the shadow of the mountains
I am small, insignificant but protected
for my big brother will stand up for me
I will crawl to him, hide in his crevices.
Under the shadow of the mountains
I am me, for nothing I can possibly do
will compare to their magnificence,
their stature and the ways of the mother.
Under the shadow of the mountains
I am safe.
Under the shadow of the mountains
I am home.
