Luisterend naar de muziek
van mijn ouders
Ga ik terug in de tijd
En boven komen de herinneringen
van mooie muziekmomenten
die ons allen heeft verblijd
Zingen bij de afwas
vader speelt gitaar
Soms twee of driestemmig
raakte een gevoelige snaar
Mijn vader aan de klus
werd moeders van boven geroepen
Hoorde je dat mooie nummer
dat zong jij altijd met je zus
De boxen stonden door het hele huis
met snoeren aan elkaar verbonden
alsof ze door die draden
de nummers naar elkaar toe zonden
Liggend onder de kerstboom
kwam Mahalia jackson ook voorbij
twinkelende lichtjes, engeltjes
zorgden voor een gevoel zo blij
Of zittend op de stoel
luisterend naar Jacques Brel
bezorgde hen soms kippenvel
Wij als kinderen hoorden liever

We zongen ze allemaal mee
het ene nog mooier dan het andere nummer
Als het maar swingend was
want ook dansen deden we graag
dan konden we het niet meer laten
dan gingen we dansen alras

Ze waren allen favoriet
maar zoveel meer nog op te noemen
er is zoveel mooie muziek zoals je hier al ziet
De liefde voor muziek
kregen wij dus mee vanuit huis
Klassiek, jazz, pop, mars, soul en blues
over de drempel hoorden we het al
Maakte dat we dachten we zijn thuis
Ben blij dat ik hier nu even aan dacht
want deze mooie herinneringen
hebben een glimlach om mijn mond gebracht
