Yesterday,
I met 3 monks at a bus stop
and gave them a ride
to their destination
In return they asked
what they should pay
I only wanted an answer
to the following question :
'What does a man, troubled by desire need to do
to become sane again?'
The monks returned to silence,
only saying their goodbyes
at the end of the ride
Later that day
I found a little note in my car,
titled 'This is how a troubled mind can be mend'
It said :
'Do not confuse desire with expectations.
They are not equal.
Desire is a simple emotion.
Hope or expectations are not.
Never become a complex person.
To those in your heart always remain a simple man'
