A sting – unrecognized, put off as insignificant
Because believing lies, that you have been told
The lies that you’re not worthy
That this is all your fault
Not giving the attention
To take care of the hurt
But wounds without attention
Without the proper care
They will get infected
Even when you don’t realize they are there
i’ve lived this way far too long
Laughed away the pain
my emotions invalidated by others and by me
Only naming the hurt and bandaging the wounds with truth
is what it takes for God to set me free
You can only forgive
What you decide to face head-on
You can only heal
When you take out the sting
And bring it to the cross
Where Jesus waits for you
He carried all your sins
And took on all your hurt
‘Cause wounds without attention
Without the proper care
They will get infected
Even when you don’t realize they are there
We’ve lived this way far too long
Laughed away our pain
Our emotions invalidated by others and by us
Only naming the hurt and bandaging our wounds with truth
is what it takes for God to set us free
