Ik schreef wat woorden op een blad papier,
geen geouwehoer over de liefde,
maar niets over het werkelijke bestaan.
Met punten en komma's, hoofdletters en dt-fouten.
Ik beitelde ze niet in steen, ze werden niet geschreven om te blijven hier.
Ik dronk vreemde drankjes in mijn onderbroek,
de sofa kreunde onder dit jonge leven.
Luisterde naar wat rotzooi op de radio en begon spontaan over te geven.
Ik spoog met Bon Jovi en Springsteen mee,
het was op het einde van de jaren tachtig.
Mijn kamer rook naar spuug en rusteloosheid
en ook wel een beetje naar wiet en god almachtig.
We waren ergens in Oostende, het was er druk en ik was nog niet so lonely.
De dagen waren lang en warm en liefde was nog geen sad sad love song.
Mijn vader was groot en sterk, en mijn moeder lief en behulpzaam, mijn vader gaf bevelen, mijn moeder deed het werk.
Die gouden jaren zijn al zolang verleden
en Oostende ligt nog steeds aan zee.
Ik blijf maar woorden schrijven die nooit zullen worden gelezen.
Onnozele zinnen over een tijd waarin de jeugd centraal stond en overgeven slechts sporadisch was
en niet behoorde tot de dagelijkse dingen.
Nu lig ik eenzaam in een veel te groot bed,
vol van wodka's en mojito's te worstelen met iemand anders zijn vrouw op de tonen van James Blunt.
Mijn ouders zijn al lang gestorven, het huis ruikt nu naar spuug en aanvaarding.
Ik heb gegokt en verloren, soldaat worden was een optie,
maar beelhouwer had ook gekund...
