There once was a brother so fine,
Big Brother did call, with a request divine.
He said, "Little one dear,
Stand by on the phone this year."
I replied, with a heart so sublime.
"I'll stand by for you," I did say,
Through joys and through troubles each day.
In times of great need,
When your heart does proceed,
To places unknown, come what may.
My big brother's words echoed so clear,
A promise to keep, always near.
Through life's plodding pace,
With a smile on my face,
I stood ready, without fear.
The hours ticked on, as I waited with cheer,
Ready to lend an ear or a tear.
