Wishes
After all that we have done
And everything we’ve seen
We tend to just lie down
And fall into routine
We say things are impossible
That some things can’t be done
We say that taking risks
Is for those who are young
We bow our heads, surrender
And give in to our fears
And after time, we wonder
About all those lost years
And all those scary mountains
We’re so afraid to climb
They’ve only gotten bigger
After all that time
Shame how people stay there
Allow themselves to lose
Everything they dreamt of
When they can still choose
Nothing is impossible
And truth can be a lie
And sometimes our wishes
Are just too big to deny.
