I read through my life’s story
Written all in rhymes
The depths in which I’d fallen
The unbearably high climbs
Whatever then was blurry
Is now so very clear
I travelled far to find
The truths that were so near
I’m older now, and wiser
I used to like to say
I realise now how young I was
How young I’ll always stay
Stability seemed imminent
Yet always far ahead
I fought to feel fulfillment
Got emptiness instead
My life was always broken
However hard I tried
I wanted to come clean
But all I did was hide
I wanted to grow stronger
But life just beat me down
So I just took my pain
And wore it as a crown
I read and I remember
Just how I got this far
My pain merely a shadow
A beautifully healed scar
My future seems so bright now
Compared to years before
And whatever life now throws at me
I hope it’ll throw more
